To be truthful, I hate this silly blogging site. That’s why I’m moving my site to http://johnathansblog.100Mb.com. This will give me much more control over the content of my website. It is still under construction, so please post comments here… I will transfer the comments over when I finish the posting system, if ever. You can still visit it, though.

#7 – Podcasting: A Literary Connection

April 7th, 2009 by · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

Well, I had to write about something, and that something had to be a student-made podcast about a book, so I decided to write about Camron’s podcast about Forgotten Fire. It was interesting. He could have done a better job with the audio, but besides that it was pretty good.

#6 – Stupid Earth Day

Earth Day is stupid. To be truthful, it really doesn’t make much sense. I don’t exactly understand what Earth Day is about. People say it has to do with treating the environment better, when most pollution is done not by individuals, but industries. There is no way an industry is going to change it’s ways just because some weirdo says it’s the Earth’s birthday or something. Furthermore, humans are not the leading cause of global warming. I think it’s mostly cows, and cow-like creatures. Remember Earth Day, and have a hamburger. It’s good for the environment, if not you.

#4-A Slice of Life

January 27th, 2009 by · 3 Comments · Uncategorized

I was being interviewed by Ulises for a class project, because nothing is more fun than a good movie. Suddenly, my little brother, Gregory, runs into the room. He says “Jossin(As he is apt to call me, as he cannot pronounce my real name), what you doing?,” in that whiny little voice all toddlers have. I respond, “Greg, go to the kitchen. Now.” He leaves us alone, and we decided to keep the clip with the interruption. Our movie needed a bit of comic relief, and we found it.

#3-The Recession

January 27th, 2009 by · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

Today I guess I’m writing on the recession. I think it is the result of an excess of stupidity. This wouldn’t have happened if people hadn’t gone out and bought things with money they didn’t have. in my opinion, this is a rather stupid practice. All the time, at least right before the recession, I was always hearing about credit card debt. I can understand buying a house with money that you don’t have, but a HDTV? A nice car? A 500mW laser pointer? Do we really need these things? No. Not really. And now look where it’s gotten us…

#2 – Memoir

January 9th, 2009 by · 7 Comments · Uncategorized

Well, my friends wanted to go white river rafting. I didn’t want to; I’m kind of a coward. I ended up coming anyways, though. When we arrived at Martins Rapids, we unloaded the rafts and got them ready for our adventure. Our raft guide sat in the back, because he didn’t want to get wet. I was somewhere on one of the sides. I noticed, to my dismay, that one of the other people on the raft was a bit unreliable. Martin’s Rapids aren’t too dangerous though, so I didn’t think it was too important at the time. We went through just fine the first time, though we ended up going in backwards (Poor raft guide!). The second time didn’t go so well. Everyone chose the same positions, including the raft guide, who claimed that going in backwards was just an unlucky fluke. There was a particular hole that we were supposed to look out for, and which we were supposed to hit fast and head on.
Unfortunately, Mr Unreliable fell down about 20 seconds beforehand. This would be understandable, except for the fact that he fell under the delusion that he couldn’t get back up. The direct result of this: We had two people rowing on one side, and one on the other. Instead of hitting the hole fast and head on, we hit it slow and going sideways. This resulted in us getting badly stuck on top of the hole and against the rock, with the raft almost completely underwater and at an 80 Degree angle with the earth. It also flung the raft guide and Mr. Unreliable out of the raft with force, but they landed in a safe spot. This was not like us. We were in a spot where if we tried to swim for it, the current would have a good chance of drowning us, despite our life jackets. It was an awkward position with the raft almost flipping. Naturally, this caused no small amount of panic among the remaining passengers of the raft. After about thirty seconds of very scary clinging for our lives to the raft, we finally broke loose to safety. And what did the other rafting group say? “I really wish I’d brought a waterproof camera; you should have seen your faces!”

I have also read Cole’s Memoir and Jacob’s Memoir.

#1 – Technology Autobiography

December 19th, 2008 by · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

I would certainly consider myself technologically literate. When I go to school I always bring my Palm m505 PDA and my TI-92+ Calculator.

Beyond EMail and Telephone, the only times I interact with people using technology is when I do online gaming, which I do often.

It’s been a while since I learned a new technology. I do, however, have a Visual Basic class. This is the first time I have ever done any object oriented programming. I do not particularly enjoy proprietary developmental software, but I must admit that Visual Basic is a very easy to use programming language. On the other hand, whatever it is my calculator uses is difficult to use. It took me hours to make a simple tic tac toe program, days to remake pong, and days to remake Daleks. On the other hand, It would take a lot of convincing to get me a cellphone, and I would never get a Myspace or Facebook account.

Overall, I would say that I am a technologically literate, and an early adopter.
